Vascular Screening Program

Vascular and Thoracic Associates is now offering a Vascular Screening Program.

Undetected vascular disease can lead to stroke, ruptured aneurysms, limb loss and death. Insurance companies won't pay and doctors won't order screening studies unless symptoms are present. Yet, 3 out of 4 stroke patients have no symptoms prior to the stroke. The only way to ensure your safety is to have a screening test paid out of pocket by yourself. These tests are inexpensive and highly accurate. If you have one or more of the following risk factors, you should consider a screening test.

What is evaluated during the Vascular Screening?

bullet1. A carotid artery screening to evaluate for stroke indicators
bullet2. An ultrasound exam of the abdomen to check for Aortic Aneurysms
bullet3. An exam that checks for the peripheral vascular disease and hardening of the arteries.

Are you at risk ?

In most cases, with early detection, vascular disease can be treated effectively.

Risk factors for vascular disease:

bulletSmoking
bulletHigh blood pressure
bulletHigh cholesterol
bulletDiabetes
bulletPhysical inactivity
bulletObesity
bulletAlcohol Excess
bulletHeart disease
bulletFamily history

These non-invasive, painless tests are performed by skilled accredited vascular technologists. The results will be reviewed by a Vascular Physician. Health screening participants receive their results within two weeks. Vascular screenings are by appointment only and the cost is not covered by insurance. Visitors can pay by cash or check at the time of the screening.
